Work that leaves a fingerprint on someone's life.
United Community Services hires people who take child welfare seriously and know that showing up, on time, every day, is the actual job. If that sounds like you, we'd like to meet you.
A team where the mission is not a poster on the wall.
We are small enough that everyone knows the youth by name. We are structured enough that no one carries the weight alone. Training is real, supervision is available, and the leadership team believes that how staff are treated shows up in how youth are cared for.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and hire without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, veteran status, or any protected characteristic.
Roles we currently hire for.
Availability varies. All applicants complete a background check and, for direct-care roles, complete pre-service training before working with youth.
Sponsor Parent
The heart of our program. You welcome one or two youth into your home as a full member of the household, provide daily care, and become the stable adult presence in their life.
Relief Sponsor Parent
Trained and approved caregivers who provide planned respite for our Sponsor Parents. A scheduled weekend, a week off, or coverage during illness. A great entry point for people considering becoming a full Sponsor Parent.
Sponsored Professional Coordinator
Direct-support professional who oversees a caseload of Sponsor Parent homes, conducts weekly visits, maintains documentation, and serves as first point of contact for placing workers and the youth in care.
Risk Manager
Senior clinical or program leader responsible for safety oversight, incident review, quality improvement, and ensuring compliance with DBHDS licensure and human rights requirements.
A workplace that respects the work.
Meaningful training
Trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, CPR/First Aid, medication administration, human rights, mandated reporting, cultural responsiveness, plus quarterly in-service hours.
Real supervision
Direct-care staff have supervisors who know their cases, respond to their questions, and back them up when the day gets hard.
Fair compensation
Competitive rates for the role. Details shared during the interview process. We pay for the work, on time, every pay period.
Room to grow
We promote from within whenever we can. Coordinators become supervisors. Supervisors move into program leadership.
A team that talks to each other
Regular staff meetings, monthly Sponsor Parent gatherings, and a leadership team that reads the messages and closes the loop.
Purpose without burnout
We watch caseloads, we approve respite, we take the on-call rotation seriously. Sustainable service is the only kind that helps kids.
