For Placing Agencies
DSS, CSB, and court services partners: submit a referral packet and receive a matched Sponsor Parent home. We confirm funding, coordinate the ISP, and plan admission with your team.
Referral processUnited Community Services places children and adolescents ages 7 to 17 into trained Sponsor Parent homes across Virginia. Family-style residential care, DBHDS licensed, grounded in trauma-informed practice.
Group settings can meet a child's basic needs, but children and teenagers heal fastest in the rhythm of an actual family. Shared meals. A quiet room to sleep in. Someone at the school door. Consistent adults who show up.
United Community Services recruits, trains, and supports Sponsor Parents who open their homes to youth ages 7 to 17 who need a therapeutic environment while their long-term plan takes shape.
Every placement is matched, monitored, and backed by our coordinator team and coordinated with community clinical providers.

Become a Sponsor ParentSponsored Residential is not foster care and it's not a group home. It's a licensed, family-based therapeutic placement backed by trained Sponsor Parents, a dedicated coordinator, and coordinated care with community clinical providers.

Sponsored Residential works when the adults around a child hold four things at once. These are the standards we hire, train, and inspect against.
Every home passes health, fire, and background screening. Quarterly inspections, at least two unannounced per year.
Daily logs. Consistent routines. Documented ISPs reviewed regularly with the placing team.
The Sponsor Parent is a stable adult, not a shift worker. Continuity is the intervention.
Youth have a right to be heard. Human rights advocates and DBHDS licensing have right of entry.
DSS workers, CSB partners, and court services: send a referral packet or call our on-call line for same-week placement needs.
